Welcome to Lake Bled, Slovenia's most iconic and picturesque lake. With its glacial waters and majestic Julian Alps, it's the perfect place to unwind and soak up the stunning scenery.
After meeting your guide and checking in to your hotel, start your day with a traditional two-oared wooden "pletna" boat ride to Bled Island. Climb the island's 99 steps to reach the Church on the Island, where visitors make a wish by ringing the famous pilgrimage bell. Indulge in a delicious lunch at one of the local restaurants and discover the local gastronomy.
Later, journey to Bled Castle, built on a precipice during the 11th century, and explore its Renaissance towers while enjoying the most spectacular views of the lake and the Julian Alps from its terrace.
Today, we'll embark on a journey to explore the green Vintgar Gorge, where we'll take a leisurely walk and immerse ourselves in the pristine nature of the river that has carved its way through the gorge over thousands of years.
After lunch at one of the local restaurants, we'll visit Radovljica town, one of the few well-preserved medieval towns in Slovenia and the birthplace of Slovenian beekeeping.
While strolling down the town's narrow streets, we'll visit a 400- year-old gingerbread heart workshop. Gingerbread hearts were once considered gifts to show affection, and today they remain popular among locals as a remembrance of times past.
On day three, we'll start our journey by visiting the Slovenian version of the land depicted in the famous Swiss novel Heidi. Lake Bohinj may be less famous than its counterpart, Lake Bled, but it's no less picturesque. We'll explore the Triglav National Park and soak in the stunning views of Slovenia's highest peaks, including Triglav, the highest mountain in the country.
After lunch at a local restaurant, we'll stop at a local eco-farm to learn about the Swiss-influenced production of typical Bohinj cheese.
As the day draws to a close, we'll visit an award-winning local beekeeper and learn all about the fascinating lives of these little bees, including their crucial role in our food production. You'll even have the chance to taste several types of typical Slovenian honey, some of which are protected at the European level.
After breakfast we'll set out to explore the beautiful capital city of Ljubljana with the help of a local English-speaking private guide. You'll be taken on a tour through the historic part of the city, learning about its past and present and gaining insights into the country as a whole.
The highlight of the tour will be taking a cable car up to the castle, where you'll enjoy stunning views of the city.
After a delicious lunch, you can either return to Lake Bled or attend a private cooking class to learn about traditional Slovenian cuisine.
On our final day, we'll immerse ourselves in Slovenia's stunning natural scenery once again. Our journey will take us to the famous ski resort of Kranjska Gora, which serves as the gateway to the country's highest mountain pass, Vršič.
The pass winds through the heart of the Triglav National Park and the Julian Alps and provides some of the best views of these majestic mountains. Along the curvy and steep road, you'll catch glimpses of cows, sheep, and Alpine goats grazing on the mountain pastures, a testament to the continued popularity of this traditional way of life in Slovenia.
After reaching the top of Vršič pass and taking in the breathtaking views, we'll stop for a satisfying lunch at a local restaurant.
